Madeleine Leaning on Her Elbow with Flowers in Her Hair

On Sept. 8, 2011, Madeleine Leaning on Her Elbow with Flowers in Her Hair by Pierre Auguste Renoir was stolen during an armed robbery from a home in Houston, Texas. An intruder broke into the home wearing a mask and welding a large-caliber semi-automatic handgun. The Renoir painting was taken from the home’s staircase with the frame intact.

Police describe the thief as a white male, between 18 and 26 years of age and weighing around 160 lbs, and less than six feet tall.

A private insurer is offering up to $50,000 for information leading to the recovery of the painting.
