Disappearance on December 5, 1945 of Flight 19
– by Mystery Wiki
On the afternoon of December 5, 1945, 14 airmen vanished when their planes were lost over the Bermuda Triangle. Flight 19 originated in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from the Naval Air Station on a navigation training exercise. Radio communications from the flight leader indicate navigation equipment began failing causing the crew to switch course many times believing their flight was now over the Florida Keys and no longer over the Atlantic ocean.
An additional 13 airmen died on a rescue search flight.
Why is this a Mystery
Flight 19 vanished during a routine training mission over the Bermuda Triangle. The proximity to the triangle coupled with the malfunction of the flight’s navigation controls provides credibility to the mystery of the triangle. More mysterious is the actions of the flight’s commander, Lt. Taylor, who continued to fly erratically in hopes to bring the flight back on course and back to safety.
